PLASA Focus: Leeds 2015 Ends On High Note

15 May 2015

PLASA Focus: Leeds 2015, held at the Royal Armouries, Leeds on 12 and 13 May, is celebrating another successful event, with a buzzing show floor and a seminar programme that delivered outstanding content to the UK’s entertainment technology industry.

Highlights of the seminar sessions included Piers Shepperd’s ‘From The Somerset Hills To The Olympic Rings,’ which saw the Director of International Technical Production Practice, Wonder Works, deliver an engaging talk about some of the highlights, and lowlights, of his career.

tvONE’s Mark Trevena’s ‘Eye Catching Video for Events: Creating, Transporting and Displaying’ covered the various video options available for today’s events industry.

‘Sound Intelligibility, Quality and Impact - Design, Verification and Operation’ from Jim Cousins of sound system and venue consultancy, Sound Improvement Services, explained how to apply a knowledge of basic physics, the ear-brain system and common sense to sound system design and the Association of Lighting Designers delivered a talk entitled ‘How Many Lights Do You Need? – The Work Of The Lighting Designer On A Budget.’

“The seminars are a vital part of every PLASA event’s offering and this years’ sessions covered a truly diverse range of topics,” said Content Manager Sophie Atkinson. “Every single session was extremely well attended and that is testament to both the quality of the speakers and the subject matter.”

“The enthusiasm with which the programme at PLASA Focus was received demonstrates the appetite the industry has for education and information,” said Event Director James Ashwood. “Delivering such a successful two days of seminars in Leeds gives a taste of what we have to offer at PLASA Show London in October and PLASA Focus: Glasgow, which returns next year in January.”
