Michael Anderson Bolsters GGH&S Over Busy Season

June 2015

Gallowglass Health & Safety has harnessed the additional firepower of health and safety expert Michael Anderson during what is being described as ‘an exceptionally busy year’ for the consultancy.

Anderson, who is also Director of independent consultancy Anderson Bradshaw, was previously Group Head of Health and Safety at EC&O Venues. He has been Chair of the Safety Advisors Group in Entertainment (SAGE) for the past 12 years, liaising with the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) in drafting guidelines for the implementation of the CDM Regulations for the Entertainment Sector. He also chairs the Association of British Theatre Technicians (ABTT) Safety Committee.

GGH&S Principal Consultant Steve Kearney said “Mike is a health and safety heavyweight. His breadth of experience has been built through years of finding process-led solutions and interpreting legislation intelligently.   We’ve got a series of major projects rolling out this year and Mike’s support, both in developing the business and in mentoring our consultants, will be invaluable.”

Michael Anderson said “The value that GGH&S offers its clients goes way beyond merely telling people that their event or production is not compliant; it’s about identifying practical options to solve problems, and empowering people to make their own informed decisions, and that’s certainly familiar territory for me.”

GGH&S is providing safety management consultancy on a number of productions and other live events this year.

Anderson added “Although the HSE has identified target inspections across entertainment for this year, they may find reason to arrive at an event without giving notice. Organisers and promoters are going to have to prepare for this and GGH&S will be advising on CDM compliance and other relevant legislation.”
