Clay Paky B-EYEs and grandMA2 Consoles Light Up New Miranda Lambert Tour
Country superstar Miranda Lambert is back on tour with Clay Paky A.leda B-EYE K20s lighting the way and MA Lighting grandMA2 light and Ultra Light consoles providing lighting control.
Miranda Lambert’s Roadside Bars and Pink Guitars tour follows her Certified Platinum tour earlier this year and features an all-female lineup.
“This is a 13-city tour playing a lot of the markets that Miranda hasn’t been able to hit in recent years,” noted Nashville-based Production Designer Chris Lisle. “The design of the show is pretty straightforward with three overhead trusses and a floor lighting package. We also have some soft goods and scenic pieces that play heavily into the design.”
Lisle added: “Miranda wanted to keep this one simple, so there are no video elements. She just wanted to go out, have fun musically and do a ‘bad ass' light show.”
He selected 20 Clay Paky B-EYE K20s for the rig, 10 each in midstage and upstage trusses alternating with spot and beam fixtures. “For some songs we use them as wash lights, on others we dial into the macros in Shapes mode to create some great visuals and effects since we have no video,” he explained. “We also used the lens rotation quite a bit. The B-EYEs work great and add a tonne of visual impact to the show.”
Lisle chose a grandMA2 light as his main lighting console with an Ultra Light as a backup. “We love programming on this board, and we love its functionality,” he said. “We were able to really use the effects engine to create some great looks."
Bandit Lites provided the equipment for the tour.
