Quantum Special Effects are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to assist with designing and building new products and to technically support ongoing contracts. The ideal candidate should have relevant entertainment industry experience, preferably within Special Effects.

THE ROLE:
Quantum Special Effects are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to assist with designing and building new products and to technically support ongoing contracts.  The ideal candidate should have relevant entertainment industry experience, preferably within Special Effects.

We are looking to expand the creative and engineering department to drive the development of numerous innovative projects from conceptual stages to operational products. The ideal candidate will have the ability to manage the development of conceptual mechanical systems through to working products and support technicians with the application of new physical effects. 

 

Essential:

•         Relevant industry experience

•         Self-starting and ability to manage own work-load

•         3D CAD, ideally Solidworks

•         Engineering workshop experience

 

Desirable:

•         Experience of developing and managing engineering projects

•         Creative and flexible approach to engineering design

•         Good knowledge of at least two of the following areas

 

o   Pneumatics

o   Hydraulics

o   Digital Control systems

o   Three Phase power systems

o   Fuel systems (Gas and liquid)

Fabrication/ component manufacturing

Standards and Legislation

 

LOCATION:
Melksham, Wiltshire


QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING:
Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or similar is highly desirable although other qualifications will be considered if relevant.  Incorporated Engineer status or working toward Incorporation also desirable. 

 

SALARY: Depending on experience.
